Smart Bird ID (the “Service”) is operated by Yellow Cardinal Inc.
(“Smart Bird ID”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect,
use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Service.

  • Account information, such as your email address, username, display name, and optional profile details.
  • User content you upload or submit, such as photos, videos, sound recordings, comments, captions, notes, bird sightings, and other materials.
  • Communications you send to us, including support requests, emails, and feedback.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, app version, language, identifiers, and diagnostics.
  • Usage information, such as interactions with features, screens viewed, crashes, performance data, and other analytics data.
  • Approximate location or location-related information if you choose to enable location-based features on your device.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve Smart Bird ID.
  • Enable bird identification, bird logging, community, learning, and other app features.
  • Provide customer support and respond to questions or requests.
  • Monitor performance, analyze usage, fix bugs, and improve safety and reliability.
  • Protect the Service, our users, and our rights, including detecting misuse, fraud, abuse, or technical issues.

3. User-Generated Content

The Service may allow you to upload or submit photos, videos, sound recordings, and other content
(“User Content”).

  • User Content may be displayed within Smart Bird ID, including in community features, challenges, feeds, or similar areas of the Service.
  • We may review, moderate, remove, feature, or organize User Content to operate and improve the Service.
  • We may use User Content to promote Smart Bird ID on our website and official channels, including official social media accounts such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, or similar platforms.
  • When appropriate, we may credit the contributor by username, display name, or general location.

If you would like your content removed from promotional use, contact us at
hello@smartbirdid.com. We will make reasonable efforts
to honor valid requests, subject to technical, legal, and operational constraints.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share information in the following situations:

  • With service providers who help us operate the app, such as hosting, storage, analytics, crash reporting, and support tools.
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Yellow Cardinal Inc., Smart Bird ID, our users, or others.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.

5. Analytics and Third-Party Services

Smart Bird ID may use third-party services, including Firebase services provided by Google,
to support analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, hosting, storage, and performance monitoring.

resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support legitimate business operations.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure.

8. Children’s Privacy

Smart Bird ID is intended for a general audience and may be used by children with the supervision of a parent or guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without appropriate parental consent where required by law.
Parents and guardians should supervise children when using the Service and when sharing any content through it.

9. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in Canada and other countries where we or our service providers operate.

  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain information by contacting us.
  • You may request removal of certain User Content, subject to our legal and operational obligations.
